Founder Myrna Gotrell Selected for Marquis Who's Who

Hope On Water Founder and CEO Myrna Gotrell has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who, a national honor recognizing individuals for their achievements and impact within their fields. Individuals profiled in Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes are chosen based on current reference value, taking into account position, accomplishments, visibility, and prominence.

A Career Built on Advocacy

Myrna's career spans nonprofit leadership, education, and coaching. In addition to founding and leading Hope On Water, she works in special education with neurodivergent learners at Hackensack High School and coaches with Hackensack Crew, the team she and her daughter built together. She has spent years advocating for underrepresented athletes in rowing, for students with special needs, and for young people navigating challenges that go beyond the classroom or the boathouse.

Her work has already earned recognition beyond this latest honor. Myrna received a congressional commendation from U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer and was recognized by Bergen County leadership for her impact on the community.

Rowing, Resilience, and Family

Myrna's own path to rowing came later in life, alongside her daughter Keira, and the two have coached together ever since. Even while undergoing treatment for stage four breast cancer, Myrna has continued to find joy on the water with Keira, a connection that has carried them both through some of their hardest moments.

Born in Jamaica, Myrna immigrated to the United States at 13. Outside of her work, she enjoys floral design, decorating, and event planning.
